MUSCLECARS & CORVETTES: A SHOW LIKE NO OTHER!

Chi-town hosts more than 500 American Supercars plus automotive celebrities at MCACN 2011

The FNBNY Muscle Car & Corvette Nationals instantly established itself as the Premier Event for those who appreciate American muscle and horsepower. Showcasing more than 500 cars in each of their first two events, enthusiasts attended from across the country and as far away as Japan to view the best original and restored examples of Motown’s finest performance cars. The 2011 Show is on November 19-20 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, just minutes from O’Hare Airport in Rosemont, (greater Chicago), IL. Once again, it will be a show like no other.

“We are honored to host some of the rarest and most desirable high-performance cars in the world,” said Bob Ashton, MCACN Managing Member. “Many are coming out of private collections and rarely, if ever, seen by the public.”

Examples include The Diamante, a ‘70 Dodge Challenger based Concept Car, left, considered the most valuable Hemi car ever built, a one-off ’67 Shelby GT500 Convertible originally built for Carroll Shelby; an amazing cutaway ‘71 ZR2 Corvette.

In addition to the rows of restored and original machines, the show will also feature an automotive swap meet along with numerous national vendors, restorers and suppliers. Another section will showcase unrestored original cars that will be inspected and documented for “Vintage Certification.” This is a program devoted to preservation instead of restoration. An additional display of unrestored cars will be nearby. “These cars represent the pinnacle of reference for restorers and enthusiasts,” said Ashton.

The FNBNY Muscle Car & Corvette Nationals will play host to some of the hobby’s most recognized names. Joel “Mr. Motion” Rosen and Marty Schorr of Baldwin-Motion fame, above, “Mr. Norm” Kraus of Grand-Spaulding Dodge, Pro-stock drag racer Wally Booth, Corvette racer Tony DeLorenzo and numerous authors will be making appearances and signing autographs.

Invitational displays are a highlight, drawing collectors who are nationally known, but rarely show their cars in public. The Class of 1971 celebrates the 40th Anniversary of the 1971 model year, which many consider the swan song for real muscle cars. The Second Annual Motion Madness will feature the wild creations of Joel “Mr. Motion” Rosen of Long Island, New York, and a 1969 Camaro ZL1 Display will showcase 14 (of 69 built) of the cars many consider the most desirable Chevy muscle car ever built, above. There will also be a Dodge Challenger T/A Reunion, below, and the Shelby Snakepit III, celebrating Carroll Shelby’s rarest Cobras and Shelby Mustangs. “We will also step back in time with The Class of 1961, featuring that year’s top performance cars,” said Ashton.

For Corvette enthusiasts, the Corvette Central Triple Diamond competition and display will be a highlight of the show. With original and restored Corvettes from 1954-‘96 that have already achieved NCRS Top Flight and Bloomington Gold certifications, it will serve as a virtual “walk through time” chronicling the history of the Corvette.

The FNBNY Muscle Car & Corvette Nationals is the world’s largest all-indoor specialty show and swap devoted to Muscle Cars, Dealer-built Supercars and Corvettes, filling nearly 400,000 square feet of the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL.
