CAR Magazine’s intrepid spy photographers and Tim Pollard expose the first Ferrari GTO since the 308 GTB-based 288 GTO

For the first time since the 1984-1986 mid-engined 288 GTO powered by a twin-turbo 2.9 liter V8, Ferrari will introduce a new V12 GTO. Unlike the last GTO that had been originally homologated as a Group B racecar, the new 599-based GTO will be a super performance road and track model 599 powered by an estimated 700 horsepower Enzo-derived 6.0 liter V12. Some 500 GTO-optioned 599s will be built, while just 277 288 GTOs were produced before the F40 arrived on the scene.
