Built by George Barris and Dick Dean, this roadster is powered by a 289 Cobra and a pair of four-string VOX Phantom IV bass guitars!
Tune in, turn on and drive back to the days when TV superheroes, wigged-out sitcom families and made-up rock bands all drove far-out custom cars. (That would be the 1960s.) Cars like the Munster Koach, Batmobile and Monkeemobile became TV stars in their own right and were also major auto show draws.
In 1967, musical instrument maker VOX decided it, too, needed a signature car. Founded in England in the 1950s, VOX produced the amplifiers that powered the British Invasion bands of the 1960s. The company inked one of the greatest promotional deals ever when it got the Beatles to use its well-regarded amps on stage. Using a VOX Beatle Amplifier all but guaranteed success for a budding rock musician.
