2011 JAGUAR XKR175: 174-MPH COLLECTIBLE

Jaguar has a rich history of offering customers low volume, limited edition models since 1938. That’s when the first and only SS100 coupe was built!

Bespoke or custom limited edition vehicles are nothing new for Jaguar. Many of the legendary Jaguars that can be seen at major concours and at historic racing events around the world were actually limited editions. Jaguar built just 240 aluminum-bodied XK120s between 1948 and 1950. The spectacular C-type? A mere 53. The fabulous XK-SS? A paltry 16. In the case of the XK-SS, Jaguar actually may have built more had the factory not burned down!

“Over the past decade we’ve created a series of collectible low-volume editions of our flagship supercharged XKR. The XKR Silverstone in 2000, the XKR100 in 2002, was celebrating the 100th birthday of Jaguar’s founder and the XKR Portfolio in 2004. There was no way we were going to let our landmark 75th anniversary pass without crafting a very special, limited edition XKR to celebrate this milestone,” said Chris Lilley, General Manager, Product Planning, Jaguar North America.

“During this year's Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance ‘weekend’ in August, Jaguar will have a major presence and we’re hoping to get all 16 XK-SS’s together on the lawn. We'll also be unveiling our 2011 XKR175 75th Anniversary Coupe."

The XKR175 is a stunning car that features, high-gloss Ultimate Black paint, unique 20-inch Kasuga 10-spoke alloys, eye-popping red brake calipers and aerodynamic enhancements that include new front and rear spoilers, new side sills and a rear diffuser. The aero features are functional as well as decorative. Recalibrating the XKR’s engine management system increases the XKR175’s top speed from 155 mph to 174 mph.

Inside, the cabin is trimmed in Warm Charcoal leather with contrasting Cranberry stitching and glossy Piano Black veneer. To confirm the car’s limited edition status, door sill plates read: XKR175 – 1 of 175. As the nameplate suggests, just 175 Ultimate Black examples of this very special Jaguar are being made available in the U.S. The price including destination: $104,500.

“Our latest 510-horsepower XKR certainly makes the perfect platform for customization. That’s why in October, we’ll be offering buyers the opportunity to create yet another XKR head-turner with the introduction of our Black Pack,” added Lilley.

Debuted at this year’s Geneva auto show and here in the U.S., Jaguar will make it available on both the XKR Coupe and Convertible with a choice of Ultimate Black, Polaris White or Stratus Grey paint. Included are 20-inch gloss-black Kalimnos alloy wheels, gloss black grille, side cheeks and window surround, and an Aero Pack that includes a front splitter, rear spoiler and body-color Jaguar signature blade on the rear. Also available are optional red-painted brake calipers.
