With a 550 Barchetta-style stowaway fabric top and 50 more horsepower than a 599 coupe, the SA Aperta is the ultimate fun-in-the-sun roadster. Unfortunately they’re all spoken for.
Ferrari will be showing the 599 SA APERTA at the Paris International Motor Show next month. This is a special series model and just 80 will be built to order. Priced at over $500,000, all have already been sold! Ferrari chose to build 80 SA APERTAs in celebration of Pininfarina's 80th anniversary. The SA nomenclature also pays homage to both Sergio and Andrea Pininfarina whose company and work have been linked to the most successful road-going cars ever built at Maranello. The SA APERTA is a true roadster that allows its occupants to enjoy front-engined V12 architecture in a completely open-top setting. In fact, it has just a light soft top similar to the top on the 550 Barchetta, to be used only if the weather turns bad.
The SA APERTA has a low profile windscreen and rides closer to the ground than a 599 coupe, giving it a unique aerodynamic sleekness. Its profile arches back from the A-post to two aerodynamic fins beautifully integrating the two roll bars that follow the outline of the seats. The chassis has been redesigned to deliver a standard of stiffness comparable to that of a closed berlinetta. It is slightly heavier as its chassis/platform has been beefed.
Power comes from a V12 rated at 670 horsepower or 50 horsepower more than in the 599 coupe. The higher output V12 incorporates Ferrari's most advanced technology to deliver outstanding performance and superb driving pleasure. Its interior is stylishly sporty with sophisticated materials, trim and colors used throughout. The virtually endless combinations available guarantee that every SA APERTA is absolutely unique.
