AC Cars celebrates its 110th birthday at the Geneva Auto Show; debuts its latest Cobra recreation (not powered by Ford).
AC Cars, one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious brands, is returning to one of the world’s most important International auto shows with its 2011 AC MkVI. The AC MkVI is a high performance roadster in the tradition of the original big-block AC Cobra, now powered by a modern LS Series GM/Corvette engine rated at 430 horsepower. The MkVI that will be displayed at the AC stand (#1035) at Geneva, above, photo, will carry a starting price of $175,000.
The latest AC Cobra-styled roadster will be available from the factory (AC Heritage Centre, Brooklands) in the UK, AC Cars in Germany and Iconic Motors in the U.S. The MkVI looks like big-block Cobra but is not a replica or kit car. It’s a handcrafted recreation of what AC and Shelby American produced with Ford power in the 1960s, with luxury appointments, above, photo, and a modern, computer-controlled 430-horsepower GM powerplant.
