Dodge’s 2012 Pursuit is available with a 370-horsepower Hemi plus flashing lights and a siren. Be careful out there!
At last week’s Michigan State Police Vehicle Evaluations at Grattan Raceway, Belding, MI, both the V-6 and V-8 engined Dodge Charger Pursuits set new performance benchmarks. A Hemi-powered Pursuit recorded the fastest lap time ever, 1:33.70, in Michigan State Police’s Vehicle Evaluation Test history. The 5.7-Liter Hemi engine is rated at 370 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque and the Hemi test cars were fitted with optional 3.06 rears.
A Dodge Charger Pursuit V-6 delivered the fastest lap time in the naturally aspirated or E-85 capable six-cylinder categories. The Hemi Charger Pursuit recorded the fastest lap time and best combination of acceleration, braking, handling and vehicle dynamics. It clocked consistent sub-six-second 0 to 60 mph sprint, with a best time of 5.83 seconds and accelerated from a standstill to 100 mph in 13.65 seconds. Hemi Pursuits are equipped with recalibrated engine controllers that limit top speed to 151 mph.
In addition to the world-class performance and precision of the Dodge Charger Hemi Pursuit, the 292 horsepower Charger Pursuit V-6 models held their own around Grattan Raceway. They averaged the fastest times for naturally aspirated (1:37.71) and E-85 capable (1:37.57) six-cylinder police cars.
Dodge Charger Pursuit models feature Chrysler Group’s second-generation large car rear-wheel-drive architecture with performance-tuned suspension, load-leveling Nivomat shocks, heavy-duty anti-lock vented-disc brakes (ABS), front- and rear-stabilizer bars, 18-inch performance tires on steel wheels and two-mode police-specific Electronic Stability Control (ESC).
Developed with the guidance of the Dodge’s Police Advisory Board, the Charger Pursuit features a mobile-command interior with unique features, including a Vehicle Systems Interface Module for easy equipment integration, heavy-duty police-duty front seats and column-mounted shifter with Auto Stick.
New for 2012, Charger Pursuit offers six all-new quality-tested and factory-installed police-equipment packages backed by the factory.
