Rocker’s first 24-hour race nets him and Daytona Prototype teammates, below, a 12th-place finish and successful completition of fund raising for the Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer.
Sarasota Café Racer Brian Johnson competed in the prestigious Rolex 24 at Daytona as part of the Chattanooga-based Fifty Plus Racing/Predator Performance/Alegra Motorsports Team, which also included Chattanooga businessman Byron DeFoor, former Rolex 24 overall winners Elliott Forbes-Robinson and Jim Pace, and former Rolex 24 class winner Carlos DeQuesada. The #50 BMW-Riley Daytona Prototype finished 12th.
Throughout the race, the team encouraged fans to donate $10 to the Foundation thorough a text-to-give campaign. It was also promoted through a 24-hour radio campaign supported by Clear Channel and Chattanooga’s Rock 105. Thousands of fans across the country responded to the call, raising large amounts of support and awareness for the Austin Hatcher Foundation, an organization that provides therapy and other services for families affected by pediatric cancer.
“Highway to Help has been a huge success,” said Jim Osborn, co-founder of the Austin Hatcher Foundation. “The incredible amount of awareness and funds raised through this campaign would not have been possible without the generosity of Brian Johnson, below, and the entire Fifty-Plus Racing Team. We are extremely grateful to have the support of the racing community and AC/DC fans all over the world.”
Sarasota Café Racer Gary Savage was with the Team and supplied the photos.
