2010 JAGUAR XJ: A 510-HP Technological Tour de Force!

Debuted at the Pebble Beach Concours in August, Jaguar's
XJ flagship offers sensuous, wind-cheating styling, aerospace-influenced aluminum body and architecture and powerful naturally-aspirated and supercharged 5.0-liter V8 powertrains. Available in standard and long wheelbase trim, the next-gen XJ redefines personal luxury and grand touring ride and handling. With a starting price of $72,500 and topping out at $115,000 for the 510-hp XJ Supersport, the all-new Jaguar XJ goes on sale early-2010.

The XJ brings new standards of sustainability to the luxury vehicle segment. Its lightweight aluminum structure makes it at least 300 pounds lighter over steel body construction. It's constructed of 50 percent recycled materials, allowing the XJ to minimize its carbon footprint and create a potential savings of three tons of CO2 per vehicle (compared with a body shell made entirely of new aluminum). These aluminum body technologies also provide performance, handling and fuel economy benefits, while delivering increased strength, refinement and safety.

The XJ's interior blends elegant, contemporary design with comfort, luxury and unmistakable sporting Jaguar style. Chrome and piano black detailing enhance the beautifully crafted leather and veneer surfaces. Four specification levels - XJ, XJL, Supercharged and Supersport - allow the buyer to tailor the car's interior to suit his or her tastes. The top-of-the-range Supersport provides the ultimate expression of grand touring luxury, with a leather headliner, semi-aniline leather seats and veneers with laser inlays.

Stunning 12.3-inch high-definition Virtual InstrumentsTM complement an innovative 8-inch Touch-screen that displays vehicle functions ranging from audio and video to navigation and climate control. Premium surround sound options include the 1200W Bowers & Wilkins system, standard on the Supercharged and Supersport models. Advanced infotainment features also include hard drive-based audio and navigation systems, and comprehensive connectivity for portable audio and video devices via the Media Hub.

The XJ will be available in the US with a choice of three engines - a 5.0-liter 385-hp naturally aspirated V8, 5.0-liter 470-hp supercharged V8 and a 5.0-liter 510-hp supercharged V8. In naturally aspirated form, the XJ develops 380 lb.-ft. of torque. The supercharged versions develop 424 lb.-ft. and 461 lb.-ft. of torque, respectively. All engines transmit power through an electronically controlled, six-speed automatic transmission with a fully adaptive shift system.

Jaguar takes proven dynamic technologies to new levels in the XJ; resulting in a blend of responsive, dynamic handling and refined, supple ride qualities. Features include air suspension, Adaptive Dynamics (continuously variable damping), Active Differential Control (on Supercharged and Supersport) and quick-ratio power steering.

The all-new 2010 XJ is all about heritage, horsepower, responsive, sporting dynamics and an exhilarating driving experience.
