FERRARI FESTIVAL IN SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY.

Saratoga Fall Ferrari Festival to showcase Italian Design Symposium hosted by Andrea Zagato.

Zagato and the heritage of Italian design will be showcased at the 2010 Fall Ferrari Festival in Saratoga Springs, New York on September 10-12.  The event will be highlighted by a Design Symposium hosted by Andrea Zagato, head of the iconic design house founded by his grandfather Ugo Zagato in 1919.

Andrea Zagato will be joined in the discussion by Piero Rivolta (Iso Rivolta) and others from Pininfarina, Bertone and other Italian ‘Stile’. The event is sponsored in part by the

Italian Trade Commission.

Zagato originated the use of aircraft techniques in the design and construction of lightweight automobile bodies, applying knowledge acquired in the aeronautical industry.  Zagato-bodied Alfa Romeos - including those of Scuderia Ferrari - won many races in the pre-WWII years.  But it is perhaps the post-war Zagato-bodied Grand Touring cars built for Ferrari, Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Fiat, Abarth, Maserati and Lancia, as well as Aston Martin, for which Zagato is most famous.

Most recently, Zagato has produced the 2006 Ferrari 575 GTZ, the 2007 Maserati GS Zagato, 2008 Bentley GTZ and the 2010 Alfa Romeo TZ3 Corsa to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Alfa Romeo. Its centennial will also be honored at Saratoga with a special exhibit of Alfa Romeo automobiles, including Zagato-bodied Alfas.
