POWER TO THE PEOPLE!
Randy McGowen firmly believes that collector cars should be driven and not just on sunny weekends. For the second year in a row Randy has participated in the HOT ROD POWER TOUR, produced by HOT ROD magazine and sponsored by GM Performance Division. This year Randy drove his 1936 (Glenn Pray) Auburn Speedster, starting on June 6th in Madison, WI and ending in Bristol, TN.
The seven-day, seven-city “cruise” covered 1,176 miles! This year’s event marked the 15th anniversary of the Tour and was the largest in its history. More than 1,300 cars participated in all Tour events; thousands of others ran just some of the legs. It was a piece of cake this year for Randy in his Auburn powered by a 460-inch Lincoln V-8. In the 2008 Tour he criss-crossed the country in his 1,300-pound Ariel Atom, a tube-framed screamer that’s more at home on a race track than on Interstates! Powered by a supercharged GM Ecotech Four, it has fenders, headlights and a license plate but no top, windshield, side windows or trunk! Randy’s Auburn was pictured in the Tour coverage in the October issue of HOT ROD.
