2012 JAGUARS: LEAPERS AT THE ‘RING!

Since 2003, Jaguar Land Rover has operated a Test Facility at  the Nurburgring, one of the most famous and most challenging racetracks ever conceived. Today we check it out, blogs Stuart Schorr, Vice President of Communications & Public Affairs, Jaguar Land Rover North America.

Jaguar Land Rover does a significant level of chassis, steering and braking development work at Nurburgring. The legendary ‘Ring is 13 miles long, features elevation changes, rough and smooth surfaces, long straights, the carousel (a mid-course elevated bank) and tricky chicanes. The testing process also includes the local roads and highways, also excellent driving roads. Today, we hosted automotive journalists and special guests and drove the Nurburgring Nordschleife in the top high-performance 2012 Jaguars: The 510-horsepower XFR, 510-horsepower XJ Supersport, and the all-new 550-horsepower XKR-S, above.

Leading the pace along with professional driving instructors was Jaguar Land Rover's Global Head of Communications, Frank Klaas, left, a highly experienced Nordschleife driver with years of competitive experience. Special guest Jay Leno joined journalists for his first Nurburgring experience. At the end of the day, Frank drove journalists and guests in an XJ Supersport, demonstrating the vehicle's dynamic, multi-dimensional capabilities under high-performance conditions.

For many in our group it was their first time driving on the ‘Ring. The overwhelming reaction was that its one of the most enjoyable tracks to drive on due to its length and diverse elements. It's known as one of the great tracks in the world, and for good reason. We’ll be back!
