BMW has an incredible reputation for quality, luxury and performance. Here’s My Car Quest’s roundup of the seven sportiest Bimmers.
Number One With a Bullet is the iconic and incredibly valuable 1956-1959 BMW 507 roadster, originally conceived by legendary U.S. importer, Max Hoffman. He convinced management to build a roadster version of the classic 501 and 502 sedans. Designer Albrecht von Goertz is responsible for the interior and exterior and Fritz Fiedler engineered the mechanics.
While Elvis Presley was in the Army in Germany in 1958, he leased a white 507 which had been previously owned and raced by Hans Stuck. Prior to him taking delivery, the engine was brought back to street specifications. He later purchased a red one. Just 252 507s were built between 1956 and 1959.
